TIPS Personnel is currently looking for a Quality Control Technician to join our food facility in Lethbridge, AB.
Overview: As a part of the Quality Team, the Quality Technician tests products and monitors production to ensure they meet food safety and quality standards. This includes using testing equipment, inspections, and quality audits. The role also supports food safety and quality programs, verifies records, and manages documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Test samples (microbiological, chemical, and sensory) during and after production to ensure they meet standards.
- Record test data, analyze any issues, and work with the Quality Manager and Production Department to fix them.
- Check product quality during production (such as pH, weight, packaging, and codes), keep accurate records, and report any issues.
- Test raw materials like milk and sugar when they arrive and keep detailed records.
- Perform internal audits and manage documents for programs like FSSC, HACCP, GMP, and QSL.
- Oversee environmental and water quality programs to meet Canadian Food Inspection Agency and company standards.
- Organize and track product shelf life.
- Maintain and calibrate lab equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper function.
- Manage inventory and report supply needs.
- Participate in health and safety programs.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- College diploma or university degree in Food Science or a related field.
- 2-3 years’ experience in a food or dairy lab.
- Strong knowledge of testing techniques and problem-solving in a lab setting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communicator with skills in Microsoft Office; SAP knowledge is a plus.
- Knowledge of food safety and quality standards (HACCP, QSL, GMP) is an advantage.
Shift Schedule:
Tuesday - Saturday, 6:00am-2:30pm.
